Humata Tyermannii
Often nicknamed the White Rabbit’s Foot Fern, this is a quirky little plant that’s full of character!
Those fuzzy ‘feet’ creeping over the pot’s edge aren’t just for show, they’re how the plant spreads, sending out new leaves and roots from these points. If you’d like to propagate it, gently divide the feet, making sure each section has some roots attached. Just remember to give cuttings a humidity boost while they settle in.
Humata tyermannii prefers bright, filtered light and can cope with lower light, as long as it’s kept out of direct sun. Water when the top inch or two of soil has dried out, keeping the mix evenly moist but never soggy. It does best in higher humidity but will manage fine in average home conditions. Aim to keep it between 18–24°C and avoid drops below 10°C. For soil, we recommend a chunky yet moisture-retentive blend. Half Fern mix, half Anthurium & Orchid mix would be ideal.
