Anthurium 'Queen of Hearts'
We think this Anthurium is the perfect blend of the old school Anthuriums which were popular for their shiny alien-like flowers, and the Anthuriums more trendy today, with the large leaves and intense veination. The 'Queen of Hearts' isn't popular for velvety texture or striking vein contrast, but instead it's deep red-black colour palette and amphibian aesthetic. What comes across as quite an understated plant when young, really packs a punch as it matures. New growth comes in bright blood red and hardens off to a near black. As it matures, the leaf size should increase, producing large heart shaped leaves with a shiny and pillowy texture.
The origin of this plant is not clear, but it's not one you will find in the wild. If you want to add some more unusual plants to your collections, this is definitely a top pick. Give it warm and humid conditions in a chunky, well-draining soil, and you'll see those black heart-shaped leaves in no time!
