This plant is a true show stopper, perfect as a gift, or to add some colour and pattern to your collection. Begonia Maculata 'Double Dot' is an even spottier, and shimery sibling to the classic Begonia Maculata Wightii, presenting a bushier growth, with light green leaves, silver spots and rosey undersides. During the growing season expect to see beautiful baby pink flowers dangling down from the plant like little lanterns.

Native to the tropical and sub-tropical regions of Brazil, this Begonia doesn't have an intimidating care routine, and is easy to take cuttings from as well. Snip anywhere on the stem and simply pop in water to root, it wont take long for you to gain another plant!

How to care for Begonia Maculata 'Double Dot'

  • Lighting: Bright indirect light is best, but some gentle direct sun is good too. Avoid intense direct sun. East and West facing windows are best.
  • Watering: Water once pot is about halfway dry. Do not let it sit dry for too long.
  • Humidity: Happy in avgerage household humidity, but would thrive in high levels.
  • Temperature: Thrive inbetween temerpatures of 18°C and 30°C.
  • Soil Preference: Something suitable for a fine root structure, with both moisture retentive and well draining properties. We recommend the Calathea & Maranta mix.
  • Good to Know: Once established, this Begonia will really benefit from a cane or trellis, to stop it from snapping.

How We Care For Our Plants

Here at The Watered Garden, we treat every plant like it’s part of our own collection at home. While in our care, each plant gets daily spot checks, the right amount of watering, and continuous monitoring for any pests or diseases. We clean leaves, repot when necessary, and make sure they’re in perfect shape before they reach you. It’s our way of ensuring that every plant you bring home is happy, healthy, and will continue to be that way for years to come.
