This is our most popular workshop, and for good reason. You’ll make your own closed terrarium in a classic corked jar, layered with soils and substrates, moss and handpicked plants to create a little self-contained world that looks great on a shelf and barely needs looking after.

Terrariums are brilliant for anyone who loves plants but forgets to water them. Once they’re set up, they look after themselves. During the workshop, we’ll guide you through the whole process, from layering substrates to planting and styling your finished jar.

Our workshops are hands-on, relaxed, and something a bit different compared to your usual afternoon out. If you’re after something creative to do in Nottingham, this is a great place to start.

Time: About 2 hours

  • Where: At our shop in Sneinton Market, Nottingham
  • What’s included: All materials, including a corked jar, tools, plants, and everything you’ll need
  • What to bring: Nothing at all, just yourself
  • On arrival: Check in at the till, drop off coats or bags, grab a drink, and find a seat round the table
  • Take home: Your finished terrarium and the know-how to keep it happy long term

Our workshops are beginner friendly and a great way to spend a couple of hours doing something creative. You don’t need any plant knowledge beforehand, and we’ll always be around to help.

Can I bring someone with me to watch?
Due to limited space around the table, we’re only able to accommodate people who’ve booked a space. If you’re unsure, feel free to get in touch before booking.

Can children take part?
This workshop is aimed at adults, but we've had people of all ages participate in our workshops before. If you’re planning to bring someone under 12, please let us know beforehand.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We understand that plans change. If you can’t make it, let us know as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to move you to a future session. Please note that workshops are exempt from our usual returns policy due to the prep involved.

Will I get to take my terrarium home?
Yes, your finished terrarium is yours to take away at the end of the session, along with care tips and everything you need to keep it thriving.

Where is the workshop held?
All workshops take place in our Nottingham store at Sneinton Market.

Workshop Reviews

I booked a terrarium workshop for my mum's birthday. We had such a brilliant time. Charlie was really warm, calm and knowledgeable. We had a great time and didn't feel pressured or rushed. We were complete novices and it was worth every penny.

I attended a terranium workshop and had a great time. The lovely owner of the shop talked us through the full process, explaining why each aspect was so important and provided excellent guidance with the many questions the group had on houseplants and general maintenance.
