Asparagus Densiflorus 'Myersii'
Asparagus Densiflorus ‘Myersii’, often called the Foxtail Fern, is a lush and fluffy-looking plant that we love here at The Watered Garden. Its upright, plume-like fronds are packed with tiny needle-like leaves, creating a soft, foxtail shape that gives it its name. It’s dense, textured, and a little bit wild!
Native to the coastal forests of South Africa, this isn’t a true fern (despite the name) but actually a member of the asparagus family. It enjoys bright, indirect light and likes the soil to stay lightly moist, though it’s more forgiving than most ferns if you forget a watering here or there. Keep it away from frosty windows or cold draughts, it prefers things warm and steady.
Pot it close to a light source and watch it grow tall and sculptural, or place high up and enjoy the fronds as the cascade down, with stems that wiggle and curve in search for light.
