Sansevieria ‘Futura Superba’ is a compact and slightly softer take on the classic snake plant, with wide, upright leaves edged in gold and streaked with deep green. It’s strong, sculptural, and brings a golden glow to a corner (without asking for much in return).

Native to West Africa, this plant is famously low maintenance. It prefers bright, indirect light but will tolerate low light with ease. Let the soil dry out completely between waterings, it stores water in its thick leaves, so overwatering is its only real enemy.

Snake plants are a fantastic choice for beginners, offices, bedrooms… basically anywhere. They also help purify the air, and stay nice and tidy with a naturally compact shape. If you want something elegant and effortless, this one’s a winner.

How to care for Sansevieria 'Futura Superba'

  • Lighting: Bright light is best, but can tolerate lower light. Avoid direct sun. North or near an East or West facing window suits.
  • Watering: Only water when soil is completely dry. Very forgiving of under watering.
  • Humidity: Can tolerate all humidity levels, but average household humidity will suit.
  • Temperature: Temperatures of 15-25°C are best, but can tolerate short periods of colder temperatures.
  • Soil Preference: A loose and well-draining mix. We recommend the Cacti & Succulent mix. Add a little bark to the mix to boost moisture retention.
  • Good to Know: Snake plants are some of the best at air purification, known to remove toxins from the air.

How We Care For Our Plants

Here at The Watered Garden, we treat every plant like it’s part of our own collection at home. While in our care, each plant gets daily spot checks, the right amount of watering, and continuous monitoring for any pests or diseases. We clean leaves, repot when necessary, and make sure they’re in perfect shape before they reach you. It’s our way of ensuring that every plant you bring home is happy, healthy, and will continue to be that way for years to come.
