Sansevieria Samurai is a bold little plant with a big personality. This dwarf variety grows in tight, architectural rosettes with very thick, V-shaped leaves edged in deep red. Its stacked, almost spiral-like form gives it a highly sculptural look, a great choice if you prefer something less leafy.

Native to dry, rocky landscapes in Africa, the Samurai thrives on neglect. It stores water in its fleshy leaves, so it’s happiest when the soil is left to dry out completely between waterings. It’ll tolerate a wide range of light conditions, from bright and sunny to lower-lit corners, just don’t overwater it, especially in shadier spots.

How to care for Sansevieria 'Samurai'

  • Lighting: Bright, indirect light is best, but can tolerate gentle direct too. East or West facing windowsills are best.
  • Watering: Water once pot is completely dry, is drought tolerant.
  • Humidity: Can deal with arid conditions but is happy in average household humidity.
  • Temperature: Grows best in temperatures of around 18-28°C, but can tolerate as low as 10°C for short periods.
  • Soil Preference: Something which allows air and water to ass through easily. We recommend the Cacti & Succulent mix. Add some bark to this mix for the perfect balance of properties.
  • Good to Know: Watering will dramatically change depending on lighting conditions, but you can treat this Snake plant like a cactus.

How We Care For Our Plants

Here at The Watered Garden, we treat every plant like it’s part of our own collection at home. While in our care, each plant gets daily spot checks, the right amount of watering, and continuous monitoring for any pests or diseases. We clean leaves, repot when necessary, and make sure they’re in perfect shape before they reach you. It’s our way of ensuring that every plant you bring home is happy, healthy, and will continue to be that way for years to come.
