Asplenium Parvati
The Asplenium Parvati, also known as Mother Fern, is a hybrid cultivar created in Australia. This rubbery fern is rather resilient compared to other common ferns we choose as houseplants. Growing from the crown, this plant produces long, feather-shaped fronds which are waxy and thick in texture and bright green in colour. The most wonderful feature of this fern, and the reason it gets its nickname, is its ability to grow 'fern babies' from its leaves.
Care for this plant is simple; bright to dappled light, and keeping the soil consistently moist. Don't worry if you're forgetful though. Unlike other ferns, the Parvati has a forgiving streak and will hold its own for longer, due to its waxy leaves which help to store water. A boost of humidity will allow this plant to thrive, but it can tolerate average household humidity too.
A classic fern, with a funky feature and a simple care guide.. what's not to like? Plus, it's pet friendly!
