The Ficus Pumila, also known as the Creeping Fig, is a delicate plant perfect for terrariums or small shelves and hanging pots. Native to the temperate rainforests of East Asia, this Ficus likes it bright and humid and can be found growing off of other plants or rocks and cliffs in the wild. Its creeping nature makes it great for ground cover in terrariums, or growing up a piece of bark for a standout centre piece.

How to care for Ficus Pumila

  • Lighting: Bright, indirect light, avoid direct sun. East or West facing light is best.
  • Watering: Water once top inch or two of soil feels dry. Keep moisture consistent but not waterlogged.
  • Humidity: Benefits from a boost of humidity. Avoid radiators and cold draughts. Will grow best in terrarium or greenhouse conditions.
  • Temperature: Keep temperatures at around 16-24°C.
  • Soil Preference: Protecting fine roots whilst keeping humidity high. We recommend the Terrarium Mix.
  • Good to Know: Easy to propagate if humidity is high. Cut anywhere on the stem and place in moss, or in a terrarium, and your cutting will root within a couple of weeks.

How We Care For Our Plants

Here at The Watered Garden, we treat every plant like it’s part of our own collection at home. While in our care, each plant gets daily spot checks, the right amount of watering, and continuous monitoring for any pests or diseases. We clean leaves, repot when necessary, and make sure they’re in perfect shape before they reach you. It’s our way of ensuring that every plant you bring home is happy, healthy, and will continue to be that way for years to come.
