The 'Oricula' is a natural mutation of the Kalanchoe Luciae, which is originally native to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Like the original plant, this one grows paddle-shaped leaves, blue-green in colour and raspberry red on the tips, but some leaves curl to create a coral-like tube shape, similar to that of Crassula Ovata 'Coral' (also known as 'Shrek Ears').

This succulent is no different to most other succulents, enjoying your sunniest windowsill, in a loose and well-draining soil, with a good drink only when the soil is completely dry.

If given the right care, these unusual plants can reach heights of 60cm. A brilliant addition to your plant collection if you love bright colours, interesting shapes and easy care plants!

How to care for Kalanchoe Luciae 'Oricula'

  • Lighting: Thrives in direct sun. Place on or near your sunniest window.
  • Watering: Only when the soil is completely dry. If you're not sure, leave them for longer. They are very drought tolerant.
  • Humidity: Thrives in lower humidity / arid conditions.
  • Temperature: Keep in 18°C or above for consistent growth. Anything below 10°C for long periods of time can seriously damage the plant.
  • Soil Preference: A very loose and well-draining mix is best. We recommend the Cacti & Succulent mix.
  • Good to Know: The more sun you give this plant, the brighter the red tips. As they mature, the red can spread to most of the leaf.

How We Care For Our Plants

Here at The Watered Garden, we treat every plant like it’s part of our own collection at home. While in our care, each plant gets daily spot checks, the right amount of watering, and continuous monitoring for any pests or diseases. We clean leaves, repot when necessary, and make sure they’re in perfect shape before they reach you. It’s our way of ensuring that every plant you bring home is happy, healthy, and will continue to be that way for years to come.
