The 'Zebra' is a cultivar of the much-loved Philodendron Gloriosum, getting it's name from the prominent white venation displayed on each leaf. The Gloriosum is celebrated for its large, heart-shaped leaves, which are velvety in texture and become more pillowy as the plant matures. The 'Zebra' cultivar only adds more drama to an already stand-out plant, with silvery-white veins contrasting against the apple green leaves. In optimal conditions, a Gloriosum leaf can grow to be nearly 1 meter!

Naturally a crawler, growing along the forest floor in humid jungles, this Philodendron is rather low-light tolerant and easy to care for. It is important to allow the top soil to dry out before watering to avoid the main stem rotting. These plants are easier to care for if grown in longer pots, to accomodate to their crawling ways.

If you want your home to feel like a jungle, this is the perfect easy-care addition, that is sure to pack a visual punch.

How to care for Philodendron Gloriosum 'Zebra'

  • Lighting: Enjoys bright, filtered light. By a North facing window, or near an East. Direct sun will scorch the leaves.
  • Watering: Doesn't like waterlogged soil, but enjoys consistent moisture. Water thoroughly once top quarter of pot has dried out.
  • Humidity: 60% or above is best, but can tolerate slightly lower. Avoid radiators and draughts.
  • Temperature: Will thrive best in temperatures ranging from 18-27°C. Avoid placing in temperatures lower than 15ºC for long periods of time.
  • Soil Preference: A chunky mix to suit the thick roots and bottom-heavy growth habit. We recommend the Monstera & Philodendron mix.
  • Good to Know: Because it is a crawler, this plant grows best in longer pots, such as trough planters.
