If you're looking to get into Begonias, this is where to start. The Begonia Maculata Wightii is a striking, low maintenance plant, prefect for anyone looking to brighten up their plant collection.

Growing in the tropical and sub-tropical regions of Brazil, this cane Begonia grows tall and upright, displaying narrow matt green leaves with shimmering white spots and bright red undersides. The pattern is so striking, it almost looks like it has been handpainted. It is very easy to propagate, simply by cutting anywhere on the main stem and letting it root in water.

We would reccomend this plant to someone who is fairly new to indoor gardening but is ready to try something different. It is also the perfect gift for someone who likes plants, because of its ease of care and dazzling leaf pattern.

How to care for Begonia Maculata Wightii

  • Lighting: Bright indirect light is best, but some gentle direct sun is fine too. Avoid intense direct sun. East and West facing windows are best.
  • Watering: Water once pot is about halfway dry. Do not let it sit dry for too long.
  • Humidity: Happy in average household humidity, but would thrive in high levels.
  • Temperature: Thrive in between temperatures of 18°C and 30°C.
  • Soil Preference: Something suitable for a fine root structure, with both moisture retentive and well draining properties. We recommend the Calathea & Maranta mix.
  • Good to Know: Prone to powdery mildew, avoid letting water sit on the leaves.
