Aglaonemas, often referred to as Chinese Evergreen, are native to tropical Asia, but are popular houseplants due to their resilience and low light tolerance, and that is no different for the Silver Queen variety. Growing from a thick upright stem, the Silver Queen displays slender silver and green leaves which fan out from the main stem, to give a full and bushy look.

Although this plant is low light tolerant, it thrives best in bright light. However, if you have a low light spot that needs filling with some greenery, then try the Silver Queen. Just don't expect quick growth and make sure to ease up on the watering, as the most common cause of death for these very forgiving plants is root rot from overwatering.

The Silver Queen is sure to bring some contrast to any houseplant collection and is perfect for someone looking for a plant which can handle temperature fluctuations, neglect, and low light. We also recommend Aglaonemas to anyone who loves Calatheas but struggles to look after them - similar striking patterns on the leaves, but no where near as much hassle to care for!

How to care for Aglaonema 'Silver Queen'

  • Lighting: Can tolerate low light, but thrives in bright light. Avoid direct sun. East, West and North facing windows suit best.
  • Watering: Water once the pot is almost completely dry.
  • Humidity: Can grow in average household humidity, but will grow quicker and fuller in higher levels.
  • Temperature: Resilient to temperature fluctuations, but thrives in 18-27°C
  • Soil Preference: A chunky and airy mix with moisture retentive properties. We recommend the Monstera & Philodendron mix.
  • Good to Know: Will lose its lower leaves when given an inconsistent watering routine.

We clean leaves, repot when necessary, and make sure they’re in perfect shape before they reach you. It’s our way of ensuring that every plant you bring home is happy, healthy, and will continue to be that way for years to come.
