More commonly known as the 'Peace Lily', the Spahtiphyllum is a houseplant classic and for good reason. Although it's a little bit of a diva with its dramatic drooping, this is a very useful visual cue for when the plant is thirsty, which means its great for beginners wanting an active plant to learn how to identity the care needs of your new green friend. It also flowers (which resemble white flags, giving it its nickname), and is one of the top houseplants for air purification.

Originating from South America, particularly in Columbia and Venezuela, this plant is used to the dappled light of an crowded canopy and the warm humidity of the tropical rainforest. Indoors, avoid direct sun, placing away from a window or by a north-facing one, water when it starts to droop, and avoid places where the air is dry and cold.

There's a reason this houseplant has been so popular for such a long time. Great for beginners and those experienced growers alike.

How to care for Spathiphyllum 'Pearl Cupido'

  • Lighting: Avoid direct sun, this plant suits shade. Bright to dappled light is suitable.
  • Watering: Likes it moist but you can wait till it starts to droop before you water it. A drama queen that gives you a very visible warning!
  • Humidity: Benefits from a boost of humidity. Avoid radiators and cold draughts.
  • Temperature: Keep at around 18-24°C for happy growth, avoid temperatures lower than 13°C.
  • Soil Preference: Moisture retention is key. We recommend the Calathea & Maranta mix.
  • Good to Know: Inconsistent watering can stop your Peace Lily producing flowers, but regular fertiliser in the growing season can help encourage it to bloom.

It’s our way of ensuring that every plant you bring home is happy, healthy, and will continue to be that way for years to come.
