Hoya Bella
The Hoya Bella suits its name perfectly, and is one of our all time favourite Hoyas here in the shop. The shape of the leaves; the way it trails; the non stop flowers; and the scent those flowers produce; are all reasons we enjoy growing this species.
In the wild, this Hoya can be found in the Himalayas and India, as well as in South East Asian countries like Thailand and Mayanmar. It is a tropical epiphyte, that enjoys growing off of larger plants, where it cascades down, showing off its gorgeous white and pink blooms.
The jagged, triangular leaf shape of the Bella feels jurassic, almost like the sharp pointed teeth of a prehistoric predator. This contrasts nicely with the delicate blooms, which look like they're made of porcelain and smell like fresh laundry.
We find this Hoya fairly easy to maintain as long as you give it lots of bright light and don't let the soil sit dry for too long, as it is quite a thirsty plant for the genus. Alternatively, it doesn't like soggy soil either, so always wait for most of the pot to dry out before you give it a big drink. We recommend keeping this one away from radiators and draughts, and if you want regular blooms, fertilising in the growing season will definitely help!
