Caladium 'Red'
Caladium 'Red' is a plant for those who love rich, romantic colours. A cultivar of the Bicolour, this variety boasts deep green, heart-shaped leaves, painted pink, with red veins. The texture of the leaves resembles tissue paper.
Caladiums are native to Central and South America, and because of this like it warm and humid. They are best grown away from draughts and radiators where air can become cold and/or dry. Due to the thin leaves, we advise keeping your Caladiums out of direct light and instead give them bright, indirect light. Water when top soil is dry and keep consistently moist.
We don't recommend this plant to those with cold homes all year round, and it may become harder to care for if you are a forgetful waterer. However, if you able to keep it warm and well-watered, this is a spectacular addition to your houseplant collection, that is sure to bring a smile to your face!
These are likely to die back when temperatures drop below 20ºC consistently, but they can grow back each Spring if the bulb is taken care of during the Winter.
