The Asparagus Setaceus, known as the Asparagus Fern, has a delicate growth structure, made up of thin spindly stems with small thorns along them. The leaves - or technically cladodes (they're modified stems) - are bright green and needle-like, but soft to the touch. When several of these plants are potted together, they look like a mini forest full of feathery and whimsical trees.

Originating from the humid forests of South Africa, this plant enjoys a lot of humidity, bright light, and a moisture retentive soil. It's perfect for a kitchen or bathroom, where the humidity is naturally higher in your home.

Although nicknamed a fern, it actually belongs to the Asparagus family and is related to the Asparagus we eat. You'll notice the resemblance to the vegetable when the plant is pushing out new growth, but we don't recommend taking a bite!

How We Care For Our Plants

Here at The Watered Garden, we treat every plant like it’s part of our own collection at home. While in our care, each plant gets daily spot checks, the right amount of watering, and continuous monitoring for any pests or diseases. We clean leaves, repot when necessary, and make sure they’re in perfect shape before they reach you. It’s our way of ensuring that every plant you bring home is happy, healthy, and will continue to be that way for years to come.
