Hoya Mathilde
Hoya Mathilde is a beloved hoya for many reasons. First of all, it's dark green and glossy, button-like leaves, speckled with silver markings, are something to admire. Secondly, the beautiful flowers which bloom into white fuzzy stars with hot pink centres. And if those two reasons don't cut it, the third reason, is that Hoya Mathilde is one of the easiest Hoyas to take care of, due to its forgiving and robust nature. It is even more low light tolerant than most hoyas, due to its dark green leaves. Keep in mind however, that if you want to make this Hoya bloom, it is more likely to do so in higher light.
This Hoya is not a natural species, but instead a hybrid cultivar. It came about through crossing Hoya Carnosa (your classic hoya species, known for it's resiliance and fast growth) with the dainty Hoya Serpens (the reason for the Mathilde's dinkier leaf shape). Both of these Hoyas can be found in Southeast Asia.
