The 'Black Cat' is a distinct cultivar of Hoya Callistophylla, popular for its pronounced green-black venation. The contrast of bright green leaves and almost black markings, makes this plant a striking addition to any collection, especially those who enjoy plants which look reptilian, prehistoric or gothic. This Hoya scratches all of those itches and more, producing white star-shaped flowers which have a herbal scent.

Native to South East Asia, this Hoya is a trailing epiphyte which would be happy growing both up a trellis, or trailing from a hanging pot. Hoyas love high humidity, well-draining soil, and lots of bright light. Make sure not to overwater as these plants can rot easily if sat in water too long. We find a thorough watering when the pot is halfway dry is the best way to avoid this.

How We Care For Our Plants

Here at The Watered Garden, we treat every plant like it’s part of our own collection at home. While in our care, each plant gets daily spot checks, the right amount of watering, and continuous monitoring for any pests or diseases. We clean leaves, repot when necessary, and make sure they’re in perfect shape before they reach you. It’s our way of ensuring that every plant you bring home is happy, healthy, and will continue to be that way for years to come.
