How to care for Platycerium Superbum

  • Lighting: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Keep out of direct sun to prevent frond scorch.
  • Watering: Water when the mounting medium or soil is dry to the touch. Soak thoroughly, then let it drain fully.
  • Humidity: Enjoys high humidity – mist regularly or keep in a humid spot like a bathroom.
  • Temperature: Prefers warm, stable temperatures. Keep above 15°C and avoid cold draughts.
  • Soil Preference: Best planted in a very loose, chunky mix, we use an Anthurium and Orchid Mix. We also mount our staghorns using Sphagnum Moss and a plank of cork bark!
  • Good to Know: Sometimes the new leaves get stuck under the older fronds. You can cut around the emerging leaf to give it some encouragement!

How We Care For Our Plants

Here at The Watered Garden, we treat every plant like it’s part of our own collection at home. While in our care, each plant gets daily spot checks, the right amount of watering, and continuous monitoring for any pests or diseases. We clean leaves, repot when necessary, and make sure they’re in perfect shape before they reach you. It’s our way of ensuring that every plant you bring home is happy, healthy, and will continue to be that way for years to come.
