The 'Pictum Tricolour' is a plant that's hard to believe is real. Growing from a thick stem, this plant produces suede-like leaves, adorned with blotches of several shades of green, to produce a naturally occurring camouflage pattern. The leaves of the Pictum will reach lengths of 10-12cm, but the overall plant height can reach 60cm indoors.

Native to the rainforests of Sumatra, Indonesia, this plant grows in the shadier spots of the forest. Indoors, we recommend a bright spot out of direct sun. Although it's part of a genus of plants known for their resilience and forgiveness, this Aglaonema is a slightly thirstier variety and will need more attention than its laid back relatives. We recommend watering when the top two centimetres of soil is dry.

We feel there's not much we need to say about this plant for you to understand how special it is. Just look at it!

How to care for Aglaonema 'Pictum Tricolour'

  • Lighting: Bright, indirect light, but avoid intense direct. Best in a North facing window or near East or West facing windows. Works well under grow lights too.
  • Watering: A thirsty plant, but quick to rot if overwatered. Water once the top layer of soil is dry.
  • Humidity: Can handle average household humidity, but thrives in 60% and above.
  • Temperature: Keep in 18°C or above for consistent growth.
  • Soil Preference: Moisture retentive, but airy and chunky to support the thick root system. We recommend the Monstera & Philodendron mix.
  • Good to Know: To avoid severe leaf drop and yellowing, regular repotting is recommended. Leaves tend to drop quicker on this plant than your average houseplant.
