Hoya Vangviengiensis
The Hoya Vangviengiensis is native to Vang Vieng in Loas, where it grows as an epiphyte in humid forests. It has also been found growing in the Yunnan Province of China.
This Hoya produces thick glossy leaves which start off as a maroon and harden off to a bright green. As the leaves develop, they produce 'ribs', which add a subtle texture to the thick leaves. All the leaves have a fine hair on the underside, making them both glossy and soft - a beautiful combo!
Caring for this Hoya is like many others in the genus. Respect its natural epiphytic nature and it should be smooth sailing. Lots of bright light, a good bit of humidity, and a chunky soil mix will make caring for this plant easy. Make sure to only water this Hoya when the soil is nearly dry, as they struggle with waterlogged soil.
When this Hoya is actively growing it may produce white, fuzzy, star-shaped flowers for you. To increase your chances of a bloom, provide lots of light and regular fertiliser during the growing season.
