The Anthurium Clarinervium is the perfect place to start if you're looking to get into growing Anthuriums. Its forgiving nature is not typical of the genus, the Clarinervium, with its sturdy, cardboard-stiff leaves, seems to be able to handle a little more neglect. Despite its hardier nature, incorrect care can lead to imperfections on its leaves, but don’t worry, it will still keep trying to grow its best for you.

This Anthurium produces green-black, heart-shaped leaves, with contrasting silver veins. In the light, these plants shimmer, and can look iridescent. Growing from a thick compact main stem, these plants can grow up to 65cm tall, with their leaves reaching sizes of 25cm.

Native to the tropical forests of Mexico, this Anthurium (like most others in the genus), prefers dappled light, high humidity and regular feeding. Their thicks roots need a loose, chunky mix and to stay lightly moist but never waterlogged.

A true statement plant, which makes everybody's head turn. The Anthurium Clarinervium belongs in any plant collection. And if you're looking to expand into some more advanced genera, then this is a great plant to begin with.

How to care for Anthurium Clarinervium

  • Lighting: Enjoys bright, filtered light. Near East or West facing windows is best. Direct sun will scorch the leaves.
  • Watering: Doesn't like waterlogged soil, but enjoys consistent moisture. Water thoroughly once half the pot has dried out.
  • Humidity: Enjoys high humidity, will thrive best in greenhouse or terrarium conditions, but can grow happily in regular household humidity. Avoid radiators and draughts.
  • Temperature: Warmer temperatures will lead to larger leaves. Will thrive best in temperatures ranging from 18-24°C.
  • Soil Preference: An airy and chunky mix to suit the Anthuriums' thick roots. We recommend the Anthurium & Orchid mix.
  • Good to Know: Due to the thick roots, Anthuriums benefit from regular repotting. If you notice the leaves are not sizing up and the soil is drying out quicker than usual, this is often a sign to get a bigger pot.
