We think the Anthurium Peltigerum is the love child of the Forgetii and the Vietchii (even though it is not a hybrid of either), and we're obsessed. With its shield-like leaves and slightly rippled centre, we're sure this will stand out in your collection.

This is not a beginner plant, and requires high humidity to really thrive. Native to Columbia and Ecuador, you would find the Peltigerum growing on other plants as opposed to in soil. It grows in high altitudes, meaning it has a preference for slightly cooler temperatures, but would still grow best in greenhouse or terrarium conditions.

A unique addition to any houseplant collection, this weird and wonderful Anthurium is a true stand out. Perfect for those who love growing Anthuriums and other Aroids, but are looking for something a bit different from the classic heart-shaped and silver veined options.

How to care for Anthurium Peltigerum

  • Lighting: Enjoys bright, filtered light. Near East or West facing windows is best. They do brilliantly under grow lights. Direct sun will scorch the leaves.
  • Watering: Doesn't like waterlogged soil, but enjoys consistent moisture. Water thoroughly once top quarter of the pot has dried out.
  • Humidity: 70% or above is best. Will thrive best in greenhouse or terrarium conditions. Avoid radiators and draughts.
  • Temperature: Will thrive best in temperatures ranging from 18-26°C.
  • Soil Preference: An airy and chunky mix to suit the Anthuriums' thick roots and epiphytic growth habit. We recommend the Anthurium & Orchid mix.
  • Good to Know: There are only 3 known Anthurium varieties that have the shield shaped leaves (peltate), making it super special!

How We Care For Our Plants

Here at The Watered Garden, we treat every plant like it’s part of our own collection at home. While in our care, each plant gets daily spot checks, the right amount of watering, and continuous monitoring for any pests or diseases. We clean leaves, repot when necessary, and make sure they’re in perfect shape before they reach you. It’s our way of ensuring that every plant you bring home is happy, healthy, and will continue to be that way for years to come.
