Anthurium Warocqueanum, nicknamed 'Queen Anthurium', truly is the queen of the genus. This plant showcases striking neon veins which glow in contrast to the deep green of its elongated leafs. This plant is not for the faint of heart, and is known as a tricky Anthurium to take care of. If you are new to Anthuriums, this may not be the best choice, but can be an easier task if you start with a small specimen.

Native to Columbia where it grows as an epiphyte, the Warocqueanum enjoys bright, indirect light, warm temperatures and high humidity. Consistency is key to keeping this queen happy, so avoid placing in areas where temperature and humidity can change drastically. If regularly fed and provided with support, this plant can size up quickly.

If you think this plant is beautiful and perhaps want to challenge yourself, then why not give this royal diva a chance.

How to care for Anthurium Warocqueanum

  • Lighting: Enjoys bright, filtered light. East or West facing windows are best, they do brilliantly under grow lights. Direct sun will scorch the leaves.
  • Watering: Doesn't like waterlogged soil, but enjoys consistent moisture. Water thoroughly once half the pot has dried out.
  • Humidity: Enjoys high humidity, will thrive best in greenhouse or terrarium conditions. Avoid radiators and draughts.
  • Temperature: Warmer temperatures will lead to larger leaves. Will thrive best in temperatures ranging from 18-27°C. Anything lower than 15°C will stress the plant.
  • Soil Preference: An airy and chunky mix to suit the Anthuriums' thick roots. We recommend the Anthurium & Orchid mix.
  • Good to Know: Investing in a good quality fertiliser will definitely make the care for this plant (and Anthuriums in general) a much easier task. If leaves are losing their deep green colour this is often due to a lack of nutrients.
