Thick and glossy leaves, which look like they've been painted in watercolour, with rosy pink and citrus green hues; this is the gorgeous Hoya Australis 'Lisa', a cultivar of the Hoya Australis, which boasts beautiful variegation with the same ease of care as its predecessor.

The Australis originates from Australia, growing as an epiphyte in warm and humid conditions. When growing indoors, keep in bright light, with some gentle direct - the more light, the better variegation. They like it moist but not waterlogged, so allow soil to dry out most of the way before giving it a big drink and boost the humidity. Feed regularly in the growing season for healthier growth and to encourage flowering! This Hoya produces white, star-shaped flowers which have a chocolatey / nutty smell.

We recommend growing this Hoya on a trellis to encourage consistent growth.

How to care for Hoya Australis 'Lisa'

  • Lighting: Bright, indirect light is best, with a couple hours of gentle direct sun. East or West facing windowsills, near South-facing, or under grow lights.
  • Watering: Water once soil is nearly dry.
  • Humidity: Thrives in humidity of 50% above, but can tolerate average household humidity.
  • Temperature: Ideal temperatures range between 18-26°C. Avoid temperatures of 12°C or below.
  • Soil Preference: To suit their epiphytic nature, Hoyas need a loose and chunky mix. We recommend the Anthurium & Orchid mix.
  • Good to Know: Fertilising regularly, combined with lots of light, will encourage flowers. Both root feed and foliar feed work well.

How We Care For Our Plants

Here at The Watered Garden, we treat every plant like it’s part of our own collection at home. While in our care, each plant gets daily spot checks, the right amount of watering, and continuous monitoring for any pests or diseases. We clean leaves, repot when necessary, and make sure they’re in perfect shape before they reach you. It’s our way of ensuring that every plant you bring home is happy, healthy, and will continue to be that way for years to come.
