Kalanchoe Humilis
Kalanchoe is an incredible genus of plant that comes in all shapes and sizes, and is very easy to care for and propagate. The Humilis, also known as the 'Desert Surprise', is a type of Kalanchoe celebrated for its symmetrical growth habit and blue and purple colour palette. Each new leaf comes out a greenish blue with scalloped edging and presents a purple splotching that almost looks like animal print. It can reach up to 20 inches in height, but its flower spike can soar at a height of 3 feet!
The Humilis is a succulent native to East Africa, where they can be found growing in rocky crags and mountainous regions, receiving minimal watering and lots of bright light. When growing indoors, these plants need to be getting a least a couple hours of direct sun, and prefer to be potted into a loose, well-draining soil where the soil is allowed to dry out before watered.
This fuss-free, sun-loving succulent will definitely stand out amongst your plant collection without demanding too much care! A great plant for those forgetful waterers, or a succulent lover with good taste!
